CHRIST is RISEN! - We wish you a radiant ongoing celebration of the Lord's Pascha, His Resurrection and triumph over death. Visit our Pascha to Pentecost section, which has helpful resources for the Feast of Feasts! Indeed He is Risen!
SUNDAYS of PASCHA - Beginning with Thomas Sunday (also called anti-Pascha, meaning "in place of" - as it established the Church's 2000-year practice of celebrating each and every Sunday as a 'little Pascha'), the Church presents us with a series of profound spiritual lessons during the Pascha-to-Pentecost season. Explore the Sundays of Pascha through our special resource section.
PENTECOST - (June 8) Our special page for Pentecost features a wealth of resources on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the launching of the Church on its journey through history. Join us for this profound feast, the Fulfillment of Pascha!
Dear Parish Faithful,
Summer Activities Workshop
I would like to announce here our tentatively-planned Summer Activities Workshop, scheduled for Monday & Wednesday evenings over the course of two weeks: June 16 & 18; and June 23 & 25.
The workshop is in its final days of planning, and all will depend on how much interest it generates in the parish. Some of the various activities will include:
- table tennis
- pisanki egg painting
- folk dancing
All activities will be opened to any and all parishioners - children, young adults and adults. Each activity will be led by an "expert" group leader. We hope to have a final flier prepared by early next week. Please start thinking about which activity you would like to participate in. Again, the workshop will depend on parish interest and commitment. A minimum number of participants will be required for each group.
The Bible Study will be put on hold for these two weeks, and will resume again on Wednesday, July 2.
-- Fr Steven
PS - One word on the Pysanky Egg Painting Workshop: It should be restricted to High School and adult participants. We work with lit candles and very hot melted wax, and the metal tip on the stylus gets very hot after being held in the flame. There is always a risk of burns, even with adults, unless one is very careful.
AUGUST FEASTS - Join us for the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ, Vesperal Liturgy, on Tuesday, August 5 at 6:00pm. Blessing of fruits baskets to follow liturgy. Then on Thursday, August 14, als at 6pm, the Vesperal Liturgy for the Dormition of the Mother of God. More info and festal resources available on our special pages for the Transfiguration and Dormition.
DORMITION (Aug 15) - Vesperal Divine Liturgy on Thursday, August 14, 6:00pm - The Falling Asleep (Dormition) of the Most Holy Theotokos (Mother of God) and Ever-Virgin Mary is such a deeply personal and mystical feast that the saints have poured forth a river of theological writings for us to sip from. The Theotokos is our Mother too ("Behold your Mother!" JN 19:27), and so we honor her who is "More honorable than the Cherubim and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim," for "henceforth all generations shall call her blessed." The Virgin Mary is "translated to life, for she is the Mother of Life." Join us in worshipping the Son of God born of her, who grants Life to us all!
On July 6, 2014, the parish sponsored a wonderful meal in the church hall to celebrate the 25 years that Father Steven and Presvytera Deborah have served at Christ the Savior - Holy Spirit Orthodox Church. The exact dates are July 1, 1989- July 1, 2014... a quarter of a century!

A Special 'Thank You' Message from Fr Steven:
Dear Parish Faithful,
July 1, 1989 - July 1, 2014
These are not the dates on an unknown gravestone. They are simply the first and last dates of my 25 year priestly ministry here at Christ the Savior/Holy Spirit.
Yesterday, we had a wonderful meal together in the church hall to mark the occasion. Presvytera Deborah and I appreciated the efforts that went into that meal and would like to thank everyone involved and those of you who were present and sharing this event with us.
Alas, I am getting old. Nevertheless, my new motto is: The next 25 will be better!
